23/8/17 Jayden's Pre nursery registration at St James' Church Kindergarten (SJCK)

As we are attending St James' Church Kindergarten Tour today, Jenny took half day off. Upon arrival around 1230,  we were invited to a waiting room to wait for other parents to reach.

The senior principal of St James Church Kindergarten (SJCK), Jacquline Chung showed up and guided us to a gathering area near one of the classrooms. She introduced herself and told us that is one of the biggest group she has ever had in SJCK.

She is very articulate, not the ang moh accent nor the Singlish which I am expecting but rather a comfortable and clear English in her own way.

The tour is rather simple really as she guided us around the school introducing the spaces.  The tour ended with a Q&A session. The classes are conducted in a bilingual environment where each class will have 2 teachers speaking either English or Mandarin. At the Q&A session, I remember vividly that she said:

"In Singapore, there is not much difference between schools for literacy and also numeracy education. What sets us apart is value-based decision making embedded in our child."

We also discussed logistic, number of students in the school and also briefly mentioned about the transition period after the school's lease end in 2023 etc. The tour was rather informative and we were very satisfied with the school's facilities and also teachers on board.

We immediately registered pre-nursery for Jayden right after the tour. We chose the 2nd session because we can top up extra curriculum after the end of the 2nd session. I.e. Swimming sessions with the pool in the school. Can't wait to see Jayden swimming.

Malacca 2D1N ( Anita Farewell)

Day 1

Ginger Flower ( Urban townhouse)
Arrived our hotel, ginger flower boutique hotel around 2 pm, checked into our unit which is about 5 mins walk from the reception, we stayed in a unit called urban townhouse.

Upon unloading our luggage, we went to have our lunch at Famosa chicken rice, where they serve rice ball, Satay, and stuff

After loading up, we then go for another round at 88 Jonker street Laksa and also its famous cendol with Gula Melaka. Surely the food in Jonker's street didn't disappoint us. Didn't take us long to finish up the yummy local delicacies.

We then go for free and easy at Dataran Pahlawan for about 2 hours, Jenny and I spent the time chilling at a Starbucks. Didn't do much shopping this time.

After gathering our group around 6 pm at Dataran Pahlawan entrance, we went to buy Nedeje Mille Crepe ( which Karen said is better than Lady M) and move towards our next destination, which is Tong Sheng restaurant. The queue is unbelievable, is about 1.5- 2 hours long as we started around 6.30 pm. We only start eating around 8.40 pm

Tong Sheng Restaurant
After our meal at Tong Sheng, we then went for Thai Massage session at Scents & Senses(  a touch of Thai) located KSB1, 75200. Tel: +6062880228. My masseuse is a Thai called Tip. I took the traditional Thai massage which cost about RM90. highly recommended. I slept a few times while massaging.

After our massage, we dropped all the ladies home and went to Jonker street to check out their nightlife. Jackie bought a few temporary tattoo ( by a Taiwanese brand) and we then head towards Geographer Cafe for a Jug of Tiger.

Ended our Day 1 around 2 am in the morning.

Day 2

I woke up around 12noon, took a few photos in our boutique hotel before we checked out and hunt for food in Jonker street again. I had my 1st meal of the day at Heesan Kopi, which is a cosy place with charming Murals.

After our meal, we then head towards the Scents & Senses again for another round of massage. Our massage session ended at around 1630hrs. We then head towards Jonker street to buy some pastry to bring home.

Gathered at our boutique hotel to collect our luggage and our driver reaches the hotel around 6 pm to fetch us back to Singapore.

Mid August Update

With Jayden around, as time has been rather tight for me as I am learning how to be a new dad now.

However, since Sally is on board, she has been a great help and I am completely indebted to her that she free up so much time for us.

So as I got more time now,  I will update accordingly based on my memories for June and July separately,

JUNE- My Favourite Month

The highlight of the month would definitely be going back KK for 9 days to allow my Family to catch up with Jayden, update Jayden’s passport and to celebrate my dad’s birthday.

We went to stay in Kundasang for a night in Perkasa hotel, tip of Borneo (5 hours of drive from KK)
We are planning to go Sandakan the next time and stay overnight in Pine resort Kundasang.

We celebrated dad’s birthday in I-dragon in Imago and they celebrated my birthday mine in Chat room.

I managed to catch up with Ah Boon, Lisa, Foh, Xiao Yun and Kaichun. It is so good to be able to catch up with old friends in KK. They also celebrated my birthday with a lovely birthday cake from Lady bon bon in Lintas.

I met Low Sai too, Airbnb king, he is currently based in Kota Kinabalu working on his Airbnb operator business. maintaining about 18 units, with an occupancy rate of about 23days out of 31 days.
His main service is to provide good internet and also transport. He has just recently clinched a contract to manage 20units Airbnb in Aeropod. He is such an entrepreneur!

My parents are sponsoring Jayden’s milk powder, we bought a total of 22 tins which hand carried twice separately through checked in luggage. I guess you probably can imagine how big our luggage is.

My mom is helping to take care of Jayden during the period of time, which we are very grateful of.
While we were in KK, we also went to see a property in IMAGO, the loft.

Is amazing to be able to spend so many days with my family and I am very grateful for it.
I didn’t achieve much for June as I mainly focus on adapting the life with Jayden around now.

I am suggesting June is a good month to go home. Love the hospitality.

JULY-Absentness

July is about the absentness of Jenny and Jayden for 2 weeks. I spent the majority of the time at home, and Sally is around. Jenny and Jayden went Hong Kong for a holiday and to spend time. There goes my July.

Nottingham’s group celebrated my birthday in CCY’s place, had an awesome time with them.

We went for a picnic in the botanic garden on the 30th of July and had a great catch up with the uni mates.
